TWU LAUNCHING STATEWIDE BUS CAMPAIGN TO LIFT CONDITIONS ACROSS NSW

Bus drivers across NSW will be pushing forward the TWU’s statewide campaign to lift conditions for bus drivers across the industry. Following more than a decade of declining workplace standards, and a lack of basic respect for these essential workers, the TWU is calling for a serious reform of conditions in NSW.

The campaign will aim to lift the industry by embedding respect for all bus drivers. This will include a statewide survey of bus drivers, and the commission of a report of the issues across the industry.

TWU NSW State Secretary, Richard Olsen, said:
“Bus drivers provide an essential service to our community. With the aim of building a stronger, more sustainable transport industry, this campaign will aim to rebuild the respect for bus drivers which we have seen degrade over the past few years.”

“We have had a number of successful meetings with the new government, who we look forward to them working alongside us to improve conditions for the transport industry.”

TWU NSW Assistant State Secretary, Mick Pieri said:
“These drivers have continued to stay strong over the past decade as industry standards have declined and the immense impact of the massive shortages of bus drivers.”

“We will be working every day to get to the bottom of the issues which these essential workers are facing, and working in all our depots to make these workplaces safer and better for everyone.”
