Ground-breaking Transport Reform and ‘Same Job, Same Pay’ laws were passed by the Albanese Labor Government in early 2024.
This marked the start of the biggest shakeup of the transport industry in Australia.
Since then, we have lodged FOUR applications for minimum standards orders (MSOs):
- Food and Beverage Delivery
- Contract Chain Orders
- Last Mile Delivery
- Cash in Transit Industry
Already these new rights are making a difference.
Transport reform
– gig workers are now protected from unfair deactivations, and owner drivers from unfair contract terminations
Jetstar cabin crew
– Team Jetstar and Altara workers are soon set to receive, on average, over $8000 pay increases per year because of new Same Job Same Pay laws.
There is more to do, but we are on the cusp of something great. TWU members have won more rights and power under the Albanese Government than any other before it.
This is a TWU Government, with many key cabinet ministers being members of the TWU or having close ties to the Union.

These connections mean we can hold the Government accountable for Transport Reform, giving TWU members an incredibly strong voice.
Don’t risk Dutton
But this is going to be a tight election. We can’t afford to let Peter Dutton take away these rights.
In 2016, a Coalition Government abolished the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal (RSRT) shortly after it delivered its first minimum payments order.
It has taken NINE more years to get us back to this strong position.
Don’t risk CASH
Michaelia Cash, who fought against the RSRT, will do the same thing if Peter Dutton and the Liberals are elected on 3 May.
The Liberals have a history of letting down transport workers.
With only DAYS until the election, we have to do everything we can to ensure Dutton doesn’t win.
