WOOLIES TO CLOSE THREE DISTRIBUTION CENTRES BY 2025

Woolworths announced today that sites at Yennora, parts of Minchinbury and Mulgrave (Victoria) will close in five years. Two automated sites open in Moorebank Logistics Park in Sydney by 2023. Temperature controlled operations at SRDC will remain.

NEXT STEPS:

The TWU will hold emergency talks with TWU members across the sites and we have called for an urgent meeting with the company and a full briefing for  members.

Discussions will start immediately on how TWU members jobs can be protected and where appropriate redeployed across to the Moorebank site or across the rest of the transport supply chain. Even with technological changes we know demand for jobs in transport is increasing and we want to make sure you have the best possible options available as this process unfolds.

This is a difficult announcement and every member needs to have all the information available and know that you are supported 100% by the union in this fight and process. Your long term job security must be front and centre of every conversation with  management.

Please contact your Delegate or Branch Official for further information. We will keep updating you as information comes to light.
