The TWU, of course, would not let the unfair dismissal of a proud delegate go unnoticed. Cleanaway felt the pressure on multiple fronts. Not only did the TWU take the waste management company to court, but Stephen’s peers also came together in the yard to send a clear message; Cleanaway need to be held accountable for their actions.
Ultimately, Cleanaway reinstated Stephen to his rightful role. With the support of the TWU, his peers, and his own determination, Stephen has demonstrated that even large entities such as Cleanaway cannot simply get away with unjust behaviour. This was a great demonstration of Union power, and the TWU is proud to welcome Stephen back into his yard.
