Same work.
Same pay and conditions.

It shouldn’t matter which transport company you work for. If you do the same work, you should get the same pay and conditions. You should get a union rate of pay, with safe and fair conditions.

The TWU in NSW is building member readiness for our 2020 campaign.

Members of the TWU are standing together in one united fight, across the whole Transport Industry, in the air and on the ground. We will use our power as we need to break our broken enterprise bargaining system. We are demanding safe and fair industry rates and conditions for all workers, funded by our clients.

The clients are those that define what you do during the day, from retailers to miners, airports and more, along with local governments and state governments.

For all transport workers, there are clients in the supply chain. The clients dictate what we do and how much we do it for. Often the companies we work for are forced by the clients to accept rates that were lower than the last time.

We have recently met with TWU Delegate members from Toll, TNT, Linfox and StarTrack. Our training for the Majors Bargaining Rounds is now under way.

We are supporting the readiness of yards to take any necessary protected action.

Over the next few weeks the TWU will be sending out surveys to members in majors yards. The answers you provide will let your negotiators know what local issues need to be addressed in conjunction with our industry wide claims.

Further training will be held in November then in March and May of 2020.

Our training events are designed to help you develop your skills and knowledge to mobilise workers in your yard, company and industry.

TWU Officials will be working with delegates to help deliver what is needed to engage you and other workers and move you to become strike ready, if needed.

We know we have the ability to stop Australia. Very few industries or unions in Australia can exercise the same power.

Join this fight, because we know, and they know that without Transport Workers, Australia stops.

The Driving Health Survey

There is an important survey doing the rounds and we need truck drivers to participate.

Everyday behind the wheel is different for every member, for some your health is affected,  long hours sitting down, stress, hazards around yards, bad food at truck stops with long periods spent alone away from family taking their toll.

We know that some drivers are suffering from diabetes, chronic back pain, mental health problems, heart trouble, sleep apnoea or having trouble sleeping.

We want to use the results of the survey to prove to those that need to care, how big the problem is. Without the survey results we can’t address the gaps in healthcare for our industry.

The Driving Health survey is being carried out by Monash University in partnership with the TWU, Linfox and the Centre for Work Health and Safety. We need truck drivers to take the survey and so we can build up an accurate picture of their health.
