Holding Dnata accountable.
Last week, a thousand of our aviation ground workers united in 4-hour stoppages demanding secure, well-paid jobs. Our NSW actions amplified the unstoppable force of our union’s power, culminating in an In-Principle Agreement. Our members’ actions highlighted the strength of the NSW branch, showcasing relentless strength and unity, holding Dnata accountable. A series of major victories is just the beginning of elevating standards in the aviation industry. Congratulations to the delegates at Dnata and all aviation workers. Our unity is igniting real change. We are with you all the way. |

TWU WIN: Dnata Members Reach In-Principle agreement
The agreement, expiring on 30 Sep 2026, keeps us strong in the industry fight. Employees will see a 6% pay increase from 1 July 2024 and another 6% from August 2025, along with AM and PM shift penalties increased to 20%. Dnata commits to pursuing industry reform with TWU, aiming to elevate standards and secure job security. Overtime penalties for loaded rates employees will rise from 10% to 40%. Rosters will improve with a cap of 6 consecutive shifts and a minimum 48-hour rest period. Workers will get 7 days’ notice for roster changes, a minimum 4-hour payment for call-ins, and up to 4 weeks of annual leave can be cashed out. Paid 30-minute monthly TWU meetings are now a reality. TWU is acknowledged as a trainer for health and safety reps, and fair disciplinary processes are included in your Enterprise Agreement. Improved access to higher duties and a commitment to work with TWU at Western Sydney International ensure protection for future Dnata work conditions. |

‘Same Job, Same Pay’ Applications
Last year, TWU filed applications for Team Jetstar (TJ) and Altara cabin crew. While this deal is yet to be official, the TWU made a proposal maintaining work rules, securing pay increases for all, and paving the way for direct employment and paid training for Altara crew. Team Jetstar Workers: Missed meal break payments have increased to $21. Additionally, TJ is set to fulfil obligations on part-time conversions by June 2025. A new unused accommodation payment has also been introduced. Further gains include a $3 increase per block hour to existing TJ flying allowances, increases to TJ cabin crew base salaries, and back pay effective from 1 November 2024. A voting process will be in place for Team Jetstar. Altara Workers: TWU TJ delegates have secured additional conditions. Missed meal break payments are increasing to $21 (from $16). An additional 50 new permanent positions will be finalized by December 2025. There will be a 1:2 payment on unused home standby periods and guaranteed 2 missed meal break payments per roster period as backpay for all Altara crew from 1 November 2024 until the order is finalised. Altogether, this amounts to a total increase of approximately $8,000 per year, for the cabin crew of both TJ and Altara! TWU Members won these laws, and we are using them to rebuild standards across the aviation sector to recognise the highly skilled role that these workers perform. |

Transurban’s Greed: a month on
On January 1, 2025 tolls on routes like the Hills M2, Lane Cove Tunnel and Eastern Distributor rose by $1.17 for heavy vehicles and $0.44 for cars.
After a month, motorists are feeling the added strain of Transurban’s greed.
TWU NSW State Secretary Richard Olsen continues to call on the NSW Government to urgently reform a broken system.
“Transurban is putting profits before people and hurting all road users because of it. As long as they are allowed to punch down on NSW motorists, the situation will only worsen.”
