TWU Enews

Check out this week’s TWU NSW Enews: Govt Must Fix Central Coast Community Transport, ALDI Preston Vote No & Big Win For Ampol Workers. Plus social media highlights.

Compensation win for Qantas workers.

This week, the Federal Court officially ruled 1,700 illegally outsourced Qantas workers must receive compensation for both economic losses and the pain and suffering they’ve endured.

Compensation for non-economic losses will range from $30,000 to $100,000, and economic loss compensation will cover up to a year after the outsourcing decision.

These workers stood side by side as Qantas dragged them through the courts, and now, they’ve been vindicated. They deserve every bit of this compensation after the nightmare Qantas put them through!

We took on Australia’s biggest corporate bully when workers were written off as “pandemic casualties.” The truth? They were victims of a ruthless attempt by Qantas to crush their pay and conditions.

This is proof that when workers fight together, we win!

Four Corners Toll Exposé

Dedicated owner-driver and TWU member Walter Koppen was interviewed for a Four Corners exposé into the exploitative business model of Transurban and its monopolistic control of New South Wales’ tolling network.

The ABC’s report shows just how the private company’s profits have been prioritised over the needs of motorists and small business owners like Walter.

With billions in tolls projected to be collected over the next 40 years, we demand action! The NSW Government must urgently step in and reform the toll network or risk continuing damage to our logistics and transport industries.
