TWU Enews

Check out this week’s TWU E-News: ALL EYES ON BORDER EXPRESS

As we get close to winter, we’re continuing to negotiate with many employers across road and aviation, and across every sector. Officials and Delegates around the country are working actively to ensure our ambitious goals for 2026 are met and exceeded, putting us all in good stead for 2029 and beyond.

This doesn’t mean however, that we’ve forgotten about other important happenings in the industry, least of all safety.

Last year and recently, we’ve recruited many members from Border Express in pursuit of a fair national agreement, one with new minimum standards which put fair pay and safe conditions at the forefront.
Off the back of many injuries and last year’s high-profile spillage at Leura, among other incidents, it’s time for Border Express to come to the table.

You can hear more by clicking the below video.

Elsewhere, we’ve had an active week here at the Union, where we welcomed many Delegates from Team Global Express and Ceva through our doors yesterday for updates in the industry, and to talk about what’s been happening in 2026 so far.

On Monday, TWU National Secretary Michael Kaine also came out to Minchinbury to talk to our Officials directly, relaying the long and deliberate road we’ve taken over many years to align these EAs and have consolidation in the transport industry once again.

It was a firm reminder of how far we’ve come over the last decades, and a recommitment of our purpose to work for members.

Last but not least, several of our Officials, including Assistant Secretary Marija Marsic, headed across the ditch to New Zealand for this year’s WIMDOI (Women In Male Dominated Industries) conference. The TWU is proud to once again be involved this year – Marija herself hosted a discussion with other attendees about women’s health, and our officials joined women from across the union movement in an action for New Zealand firefighters.

We’re proud to not only see our involvement grow in WIMDOI, but to see WIMDOI itself grow as well. Congratulations to Marija and all of our Officials who went for a successful week.

Elsewhere, I look forward to seeing many of you in coming weeks as our campaign continues to ramp up.

In unity,

Richard Olsen

TWU NSW Secretary
