TWU Enews

Check out this week’s TWU NSW Enews: Richard Olsen Heads RTAG, Klaus Pinkas’ 20 Years Of Dedication and ALDI Sign The Charter! Plus social media highlights.

Road Transport Advisory Group.

I’m proud to announce I have been appointed as one of the heads of the new Road Transport Advisory Group, or RTAG, established by the passage of our long fought for Transport Reforms.

This group will bring together unions, workers, employers, and industry to set standards that will make our road transport industry safer, fairer, and more sustainable.

The TWU has already taken steps under these new laws to secure fair pay and conditions for gig workers and owner-drivers. We’re pushing for fair payment terms across supply chains, stopping big retailers and companies from passing financial risk onto those who can least afford it.

Our goal is clear: fair conditions and secure jobs for all transport workers. In the coming months, we’ll tackle urgent issues like gig economy exploitation and payment fairness. Together, we’ll build a safer, fairer future for everyone in our industry.

20 Years Strong: Celebrating Klaus Pinkas’ Dedication to the TWU

We celebrate ACT Sub-branch Secretary Klaus Pinkas for his relentless 20 years of service to the Transport Workers’ Union.

Klaus has been a tireless advocate for our members, standing up for fairness and better conditions every step of the way.

Thank you, Klaus, for your dedication and leadership — here’s to the next chapter!

ALDI, Sign The Charter!

Hundreds of TWU members rallied at ALDI’s head office in Sydney during our 2024 Delegates Conference, demanding answers over the company’s ROTTEN safety standards.

We’ve heard harrowing stories of workers being crushed and trapped in a scissor lifts — some requiring rescue by emergency services. In one case, a worker’s arm was nearly severed, with the fire brigade warning, “this is a death trap waiting to happen.”

ALDI must put worker safety first! Its time for them to do what’s right and join their competitors in signing a Supply Chain Safety Charter!
