Members have continued to show great leadership in their yards this week, highlighting the human effort that goes into making workplaces fairer and safer. Workers in some yards have taken protected action, and new HSRs have held their employers to account. We’ve continued to engage directly with members this week as well, holding many meetings both at the TWU and in yards across the state with our Sub-branches. |

In particular, we hosted bus industry delegates on Tuesday to discuss the breadth of challenges members are facing, whether that be safety, access to proper facilities and amenities, and other conditions.
We’re glad to see hard-fought improvements won on these fronts, such as the recent opening of permanent facilities in Rouse Hill, but there is still progress to be made. We will continue to advocate with members to employers and Transport for New South Wales for a better and more equitable industry.
I take great pride in knowing that everything we’ve achieved these last 12 months, and everything we will achieve as he head towards ’26, we will do so together.
Our movement is strong, our members and delegates are strong, and together we continue to make Australia’s most dangerous industry a better one to work in.

HSRs Take Action
So far this year, we’ve seen several examples of HSRs showing initiative in their workplaces and holding their employers to account. As we know from many employers, including Qantas, HSRs often make a tangible difference.
We know that workplaces with HSRs become safer workplaces, and the Transport Worker’s Union is proud to hold frequent Health & Safety training sessions.
This week, HSRs and Delegates at Lindsay Transport held their employer to account by issuing two Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs), using the new SafeWork NSW PIN book they received in TWU HSR training.
State Secretary Richard Olsen says, “The TWU is very proud of these members for putting their training into action and demanding reasonable safety improvements. Everyone deserves safe workplaces, and taking steps to raise standards is to be commended every time it happens.”

Mondiale Workers Keep Up The Fight
Workers at Mondiale have continued to take protected industrial action this week to show management that the offer they’ve received is unfair, and nowhere near good enough.
The Protected Industrial Action represents an ongoing fight. By taking a stand over several weeks, members have shown solidarity and persistence.
The TWU will continue to support members and work for a better deal.
