| We have once again had a busy week at the Union, as bargaining continues with many employers and the fight to set better sector standards intensifies. We are holding employers to account everywhere, in particular on safety. This is always a paramount focus of the Union, as Transport is Australia’s most dangerous industry. We’ll have more to say about this next week. Earlier this week, our Bus Members were out in droves in Parramatta, where TWU members talked to residents and commuters about our fight for better bus services under the Road to Respect banner. |

2026 is an important year for the bus sector, as we look to utilise the momentum from our 2025 bus industry roundtable to win better pay and conditions for drivers.
In Transport, we all know that drivers are integral workers who play a vital role in our communities. But a chronic driver shortage, a result of worsening conditions for drivers, is leading the sector to its breaking point.
Bus drivers asked the community to stand with us and fill out our new survey. Parramatta was just one day of interacting with the public on this issue.

If you haven’t already seen it, we also posted a video about this action on the TWU NSW Facebook and Instagram. We post frequent updates on social media about our activity across all sectors.
We won’t give up on our fight for better buses. This week, we’ve been meeting with State MPs to talk about the crisis our drivers are facing, including the Deputy Premier Prue Car, who as well as being a TWU member is also the Minister for Western Sydney.
Together, we’ll bring the bus sector up to the standards drivers deserve. Our important wins, like new permanent rest facilities last year, are one major step on the Road to Respect.
In unity,
Richard Olsen
TWU NSW Secretary

2026 Training Calendar Well and Truly Underway with Delegate 1 and Delegate 2 Training This Week
This week, we welcomed many members through our doors for Delegate 1 and Delegate 2 training. These members from across the Transport Industry are arming themselves with the tools to fight effectively for their fellow workers and make Transport a better industry.
The TWU NSW training calendar is now well and truly underway. We’re looking forward to welcoming many hundreds more members to Minchinbury this year. If you’re interested and want to know how to get involved, reach out to your Delegate or Official.

With over 200 Enterprise Agreements expiring this year, members know the stakes of the 2026 campaign. By fighting for better minimum standards everywhere, it will also ensure the union is on a better footing for 2029, 2032 and beyond.
