TWU Enews

Check out this week’s TWU E-News: AUTUMN JOURNAL OUT NOW, ELECTION ALMOST HERE

Earlier this week, we shared with you the Autumn edition of our TWU News magazine. The Autumn journal can be found online here.

In just a short timeframe, the TWU and our members have already had countless wins, achieving landmark reforms to legislation, winning better pay and conditions for many members across the industry, and putting safety at the forefront.

These stories of how we’ve relentlessly held the government, employers and bad actors to account are all detailed in the latest journal.

As this gets to you, we will only be 24 hours away from the polls closing, and Australia embarking on the next three years of Government. The TWU has managed to notch up some major wins under the current Labor federal government. Peter Dutton has been explicit in saying he will get rid of them all.

There are two very different ways the country can go this weekend. We can’t risk the place that Dutton will take us.

DON’T RISK DUTTON

Tomorrow, Australians will finish voting on who will govern the country for the next three years.

Over the last few months, Peter Dutton has made it even clearer that he will wind back Industrial Relations reforms from the last three years.

He has been explicit in saying he wants to wipe out the last three years’ achievements for all workers. He is more interested in sewing division, and cutting services to achieve his vision for Australia.

The TWU has had major wins in Canberra these last few years, after years of advocacy. This has been the most pro-transport Government in decades. We’ve managed to pass major reform, achieve higher rates of pay and fairer conditions for workers.

In spite of these wins, there is still much more to do. The only way to safeguard our wins, and to achieve more over the next few years, is to ensure that the current Labor government is re-elected.

No matter who is in Government, the TWU will continue to fight to ensure our rights at work are the top priority for Canberra.
