Congratulations to TWU members taking a stand and winning commitments from Transit Systems Management.
A new “frequency of bus service system” called Headway Management is being implemented at Transit Systems, designed to replace timetabled routes. Members were concerned that the union was not consulted and were for some time reporting technical and operational problems that were not being dealt with.
Members working together meant that the TWU had the strength in the yard to put the matter in “dispute” with management at Transit Systems.
That dispute is now on hold because Transit Systems have come to the table and have offered to now consult with the Union, put measures in place for the “Headway Management System” that include local depot control over monitoring and decision making by the people on the ground.
The company has also agreed to negotiate with the Union for an allowance, related to the work around Headway Management in the upcoming Enterprise Agreement due in May.
