| This week, I joined Officials and Delegates from across the Transport Industry in Canberra, for the National Council of the Transport Workers’ Union. |

The TWU National Council showed that the Union is not only aligned across every sector in our 2026 campaign, but that we are aligned across the country as well.
Delegates from around Australia shared their stories and gave updates on the progress being made in their sectors, as we fight for our roads, our skies, our future.
Last night, our Delegates were addressed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who acknowledged the leadership the TWU shows – and that when the TWU fights, we win.
The power of this Union as one that fights proudly for Transport Workers across road and aviation was on full display this week. Thank you to the ACT Sub-branch for hosting members from around Australia.

In Canberra, we joined the National Council in two actions – a road action and an aviation action.
On Tuesday, we took action against Amazon Flex and their exploitative practices that have diminished standards in parcel delivery. The TWU has been proud to win better standards for gig workers, and we won’t rest until everyone receives standards they can live by.
On Wednesday, we joined aviation delegates at Canberra Airport to once again put pressure on Swissport – a company that is the prime example of where the race to the bottom leads.
The message to both was clear: It’s time for better sector standards, and Transport Workers are willing to fight for them.

We post frequent updates on social media about our activity across all sectors. You can find posts every week on our TWU NSW Facebook and Instagram pages.
We won’t give up on our fight for standards workers deserve. As we close out Autumn and head into Winter, the TWU stands ready to back transport workers.
In unity,
Richard Olsen
TWU NSW Secretary
