Since August of last year, the TWU has established many more delegates and HSRs, with many workers passing their six month mark.
The union has been involved and invested in progress, undertaking a walkthrough with delegates and HSRs of the new Alexandria site just last week, and making sure to stay in touch with what matters to workers at Wetherill Park and elsewhere.
The union got a great response to the recent worker surveys, with a lot of uptake. The results have been encouraging, and help the union keep its ear to the ground of what’s happening day-to-day with members, particularly in the realm of safety.
While safety concerns have come up as of late – in no small part thanks to the dedicated HSRs – Coles have been co-operating with the TWU thus far to find sensible solutions where problems arise. The TWU looks forward to continuing to work with Coles on making workplaces safer.
As 2025 progresses, its clear there is still much more work to do, and that more momentum will come. Recently, members indicated they want an agreement with Coles.
The TWU will always make one thing clear: The safety, pay and conditions of transport workers are paramount, and we’ll help our members if they don’t receive a fair go.
